Below are my TOP (5) tips on what to do if you fall off track:

  1. OK first up is you need to sit down, take a deep breath and then think clearly as to WHY you started in the first place. I guarantee there was a moment or a series of events that happened leading up to you wanting to get started in the first place. You need to go back to these moments and remember how you felt. Remember those genuine feelings of not liking how you looked or how you felt at that precise time. Just because your mood has changed it doesn’t mean these feelings you had at that time disappear, they will still be there. Go back to them and use them as MOTIVATION to get back on track.
  2. Now reflect on the reason “WHY” you actually dropped off and lost motivation. Was it because you were doing the same boring workouts each week? Was it because you restricted yourself completely of all the foods you love and realized doing this was actually hell on earth? Was it because you weren’t following a program and didn’t really know what you were doing each week and had no structure therefore it was simply easier to quit? You NEED to be solution focused in this game. Find out what the problem was and WHY you actually quit in the first place then simply work out a plan to fix that exact problem to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Reflect on how important this is to you and get straight back on track with a solution focused/positive mind set moving forward.
  3. MUST and I mean MUST keep going until you start seeing those VISUAL results. There are many studies out there that have proven that people who start their fitness journey and proceed long enough to see those physical results are then hooked and want to keep going. Most of the time people in this game fall off and quit simply due to not seeing those visual results. Once you see changes in your body and your start receiving those nice compliments from your loved ones and friends this then ignites your motivation to keep going and wanting more. Keep going until you get those results – this is vital. If you HAVE in fact been going for a while and you STILL haven’t got any results this leads perfectly to my next tip below.
  4. MUST and I honestly mean MUST hire a professional. Someone who has years of experience and knows what they are talking about otherwise you will waste so much time and get frustrated and fall off track again. I can’t stress the importance of this. Do your research and hire someone who knows what they are talking about. Hire someone who genuinely cares about getting their clients results and has PROVEN themselves before with a track record of client before and after’s. This is key. It doesn’t matter what level you are whether your starting out on your journey or your prepping for the Olympia stage having someone to write out your sessions for you, having someone to then check in with each week for accountability, having someone to lean on if you fall off track and someone to ask questions each week goes such a long way in this game rather than feeling like you’re in this alone. I personally know this tip to be a FACT! There are athletes of the highest level all around the world who hire PT’s and fitness coach’s for a reason…
  5. My last tip is you must learn to enjoy the process. If you hate working out and you absolutely hate prepping and eating wholesome nutritious foods, then you are going to go nowhere. I genuinely believe that when you start to learn to enjoy the process the results will follow. Don’t give yourself an end date instead train your mind to see that there is no expiration date in this game and that it should become a LONG TERM lifestyle. Choose forms of exercise you don’t dread and that you actually enjoy. Don’t deprive yourself of all the foods you love instead have your PT or coach calculate them into your meal plan in a smart, sustainable way – in moderation. Genuinely train your mind to love and enjoy the process for what it is and I personally GUARANTEE on my life that the results will then follow.
