Starting out on your fitness journey can be daunting. With this so much information out there and with so many programs available it can all be some what confusing. If you are returning back to your fitness journey and this time you are determined to stick at it let me help you stay on board and on track with your goals.
I know how amazing you can get your body to feel when you are exercising and eating well. Having so much energy each day truly comes from the FUEL that you put into your body. I want to help other people reach their potential so they can also discover how truly good they can get their body to feel by making these positive lifestyle choices and sticking at it LONG TERM.
Please see below my TOP FIVE tips if you are either starting out on your fitness journey in 2016 or returning back and wanting to stay the course:
1. Follow a structured training program especially if you are just starting out it is extremely important to NOT play the guessing game. Having a written out tailored and structured program 100% to you and your goals will not only help you stay on track but will also help to fast track your results, which ultimately will assist with your motivation in the long term.
2. Sign up and commit to conducting exercise CLOSE to where you live. If you sign up at a gym or a group Bootcamp class and it’s a fair journey from your house or work I can guarantee that on those days you are already only 50% keen on going this factor alone will be the icing on the cake to flake the session. If you commit to something closer to your house it is MUCH easier to stay CONSISTENT.
3. Write your goals down and work out a plan how to achieve them. Don’t just say them to yourself ACTUALLY write them down. Follow the S.M.A.R.T principle when setting goals and make sure they are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time specific.
Set clear and measurable targets and work out ways to get there. I highly recommend that when you do write them down put them on your bath room mirror so that you see them EVERY single day. I can guarantee this will help with your MOTIVATION.
4. Don’t aim for a quick fix and don’t put an expiration date on your journey. The goal should always be for it to be a LONG TERM LIFESTYLE change. If you look for drastic measures to lose weight and aim to get results too fast it will have a yo-yo effect and may reverse just as quickly. Aim for gradual progress to ensure it is sustainable.
“STRIVE FOR PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION”
Always avoid any challenges or weight loss gimmicks out there that promises you will lose weight and keep it off WITHOUT the need of ANY formal exercise at all.
5. Record everything and I mean EVERYTHING. Record your scale weight each week, don’t obsess about it just simply record it. Take and record your measurements, track your food intake each week, write down your lifts/performances in the gym and take progress photos along the way.
When you are seeing PROGRESS both physically in your appearance and also on paper with your performances it will 100% help fuel your MOTIVATION to keep going.
The biggest advice I have for anyone starting out on their fitness journey or returning back to exercise is to choose a form of exercise that you are actually going to enjoy. If you absolutely hate running don’t join a running group. If you can’t stand gyms join an outdoor bootcamp group close to your house. I guarantee that this factor alone will really help to ensure the ultimate goal is achieved which is for this to be a long term LIFESTYLE.
I really hope this helps. If you need assistance achieving your goals join my team. Sign up and become and exclusive SQ MEMBER and take all the guess work out of it.
