Having a bad relationship with food is the worst. We have all been there. I want this article to help anyone who at one time or another has had a not so good relationship with food.

In my opinion it is extremely common. I have noticed this a lot. I want to provide some tips and tricks around helping with this topic to ensure that after reading this article each person has some tools to help them improve their relationship with food. Then as a result have you moving in the right direction for a happier, healthier life.

The first tip I have to improve one’s relationship with foo and where I see most people break down is cutting out foods they love. THIS HAS TO STOP! If you love a certain food let’s use chocolate as an example, then don’t cut it out completely this isn’t the answer. From my experience all this does is make it worse as you are now craving it so damn badly you end up binging and eating 3-4 times more than what you would have if you had of had it in a controlled fashion.

My take home message here is to eat things you love in moderation. If you love chocolate so much, then calculating it into your daily macros a few times a week or even every day if you have to is a perfect way to create a better relationship with food. It enables you to have your favourite food of choice in a controlled manner and ensure no restrictions which then ultimately stops any major food binges.

My next tip is around feeling hungry. You don’t want to starve yourself. If you think starving yourself is the answer to achieving your goals I implore you to change your mind set. Eating constant, frequent meals through-out the day made up of nutritious, whole foods flooded with nutrients stops us from feeling hungry which then can help (it doesn’t stop) but it HELPS with food cravings and all out binges. Don’t starve yourself and aim to fuel your body correctly definitely helps create a healthy relationship with food.

Remember no foods are off limits in this game. NONE! Instead of thinking “what” can I eat to get lean and lose weight start shifting your mind set to “how much” and then you will be adopting a much more positive, sustainable, approach to food AND will get you better results!
