Are you tired of falling off track when it comes to your HEALTH and FITNESS goals? Are you always lacking MOTIVATION and just can’t seem to find the energy to work out?

Give these tips a try to help you STAY motivated and on track with your goals.

  1. Choose forms of exercise that you enjoy – Hands down one of the most important things when it comes to staying motivated is to choose forms of exercise that you actually enjoy doing. If you absolutely hate running, don’t join a running club because you’ll just find excuses not to go. If you don’t like lifting weights and you find it boring, don’t join a gym. The more you enjoy the form of exercise that you choose the less likely you are to flake. If you love boxing, do more boxing classes. Whatever you choose, just make sure you have an interest in it and enjoy it in some way. I am not saying you have to 100% love it, but you don’t want to think of exercise as a chore, there has to be some form of enjoyment to come from it.
  2. Exercise with a friend/family member or a group fitness class – Many studies have shown that if you have booked in with a friend/family member to exercise with or you are a member of a group boot camp class, you are less likely to flake than if you were to go to a session on your own. When you are exercising with someone you know, you don’t want to let them down. Also when you are a member of a group fitness class it’s like a team environment where you don’t want to let anyone down or be seen as being lazy – so you are way less likely to skip because of this.
  3. Variety, Variety, Variety – In my opinion one of the most important factors in staying motivated, a crucial factor to keep you engaged in exercising and interested is to have VARIETY in your fitness sessions. If you are constantly doing the exact same workouts every single week for months on end, not only will your results plateau but mentally it won’t stimulate you. Therefore you will be less likely to go knowing you are doing the same boring workouts. Mix up your training, it’s amazing how much having variety in your sessions alone will help keep you motivated.
  4. Track and record your performances – When you are tracking and recording your lifts, reps or running times for example, this gives you something to aim for and try to beat the following week. When you can visually see in front of you that you are getting better, faster and stronger it will help keep you motivated and push you to keep going.
  5. Stay consistent – This is so important because when you stay consistent with your training as a direct result of this you will see physical changes in your body. This hands down could be one of the greatest contributors to you staying on track and motivated. When you can see the physical changes happening to your body and you’re getting leaner or more toned and your loved ones are complimenting you on this, it can be a great way to help keep you motivated and pushing for more.

Don’t think of exercising as a chore. Choose forms of exercise you enjoy, workout with friends and family to make it more fun, mix up your training to make it more enjoyable and refreshing, track your performances so you can see your results, stay consistent with your training to get the results and physical changes you want to see but most importantly enjoy the process.

Don’t put an expiration date on exercising aim for a healthy LIFESTYLE long term. Get up, get moving and get active and see how amazing you can truly feel because of all the incredible benefits exercise provides.
