We all know the story we stay on track pretty well during the week but then once we hit the weekend the meal plan / diet goes out the window and we seem to lose track of our goals.

Staying on track 5 days out of 7 won’t get us to where we want to go in this game.

Having a SUSTAINABLE plan in place to ensure we can enjoy the weekend yet still track with our goals is key.

Follow my tips BELOW and you will succeed:

1. DON’T SKIP YOUR WORKOUT. This is a HUGE one. No matter what happens always train and get at least 1 workout in over the weekend. I would advise a high intensity resistance workout on the Saturday then a light 45 – 60 minute fasted cardio walk on the Sunday.

2. WE NEED TO BE SMART. Now what I mean by this is specifically around alcohol and sweets. I believe in ZERO restrictions so if you want to have a drink or eat something sweet you CAN YOU JUST NEED TO BE SMART. Choose one or the other don’t do both. If you want to drink some alcohol then say NO to the sweets and vice versa.

3. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER. The weekends are much busier for most so it’s easy to get caught up in what we are doing and forget the foundations. Always aim to drink at least 2 – 4 liters of water a day.

4. ONLY ONE CHEAT MEAL! This is where I see a lot of people go wrong. It’s fine to have a cheat meal of choice but don’t let it turn into a cheat day or even worse a whole cheat weekend or worse again a cheat week and then fall off track completely. It’s totally fine to eat one meal of choice just make sure you get straight back onto your plan the very next meal. It’s important in this game that if we do have a small slip up along the way not to beat ourselves up, stay positive at all times and get yourself straight back on track again.

5. ENJOY YOURSELF. This is a big one. This lifestyle should never get in the way of us having fun in life. If you know you’re going out for dinner then make smart decisions around your other meals that day. Maybe take out some carbs you would normally have for lunch, drink more water than normal, train a little harder and longer than normal then go out and enjoy your self. Simple as that!
